Christmas on the hill
Last year’s Christmas on the Hill was such a success that it is now planned as an annual event. The event will run for two nights, Thursday and Friday, December 11th and 12th, schedule as follows:
Thursday, Dec. 11
During dinner, at 6 p.m.: Ars Nova -- KCU acappella choir, directed by Dr. Mark Deakins, Rusty Bird -- jazz saxophone -- from Villa Hills, KY
Concert, 7 p.m.: Ars Nova, Rusty Bird, East Carter High School Concert Choir directed by Dr. Deakins; Katherine Anderson -- soprano vocalist originally from Danville, now in New Castle, KY is a music minister in Louisville. She’s John Michael Montgomery's 2nd cousin. Phil Quinn, a baritone vocalist, is a music minister at Lexington Ave. Baptist Church in Danville. He is originally from Louisville. Duane Campbell, tenor vocalist, living in Danville He sings with the Lexington Ave. Quartet and is originally from Barbourville, KY. Sue & Mark Lily, soprano and bass vocalists, are local people -- he is the pastor at Olive Hill First Baptist Church. Morgan McGlone, eleven-year-old local who sings gospel. Children's skit -- entitled "Mrs. Santa Claus" written by "an Olive Hill grandmother for the children at Olive Hill Elementary" -- performed by local kids
Friday, Dec. 12
During dinner, 6 p.m.: Terry Walters --guitar -- plays in a Chet Adkins style; Gordon Towell -- jazz saxophone, MSU faculty
Concert, 7 p.m.: East Carter High School Concert Choir Gordon Towell, Terry Walters, Sara Porter -- flute -- she's an Olive Hillian and an MSU student, Morgan McGlone, Charlie Cooper -- tenor vocalist -- an Olive Hill guy Children's skit -- same as on Thurs.
