Classes beginning at Olive Hill Center for Arts & Education

From the Journal-Times

Fulfilling its mission to bring arts and education to the Olive Hill area, the Center for Arts and Education will begin classes Oct. 5.

Classes include private piano and voice, beginning acting, beginning music reading, children’s choir and ballroom dancing.

Each class is slated to run six weeks but private lessons may go longer at the instructor’s discretion.

Sarah Hylton, an elementary music teacher at Olive Hill and Carter City elementaries, will be instructing children’s choir and private piano.

Her husband, J.L. Hylton, will teach beginning music reading.

Private voice and private piano will be taught by Heather Arrington, a new choir teacher at West Carter High School.

Art Committee Vice Chair Diane Greene will instruct beginning acting. She has taught reading and drama during her tenure in the Carter County schools. Her recent work includes the Olive Hill Historical Society’s 2013 and 2014 “Dining with the Past” productions.

Ballroom dancing will be taught by Mallory Aronhalt, a recent graduate of West Carter High School and a freshman at Morehead State University.

Fees for each class will be set by the instructor.

In the spring, a musical children’s theater will be offered with a pirate’s theme. There also will be a theater camp next summer with a production involving all ages.
